Clannad After Story

Story
The story is divided into 4 different arcs.
Episode 1, Filler Episode
This Episode is basically about them playing baseball, something to refresh the memory. Nothing really important that will have a major impact on the plot is here.
Episode 2-4, Sunohara Arc
This arc spans a length of 3 episodes. Sunohara's highschool life is quickly coming to an end, and Mei, Sunohara's sister, is worried. She quickly tries to change her brothers life, and to push him back in the right direction. She is aided by Tomoya and Nagisa in her efforts to change her brother's lifestyle.
Episode 5-6, Misae Arc
This arc spans 2 episodes in length. The arc is about a flashback of Misae, when she was still in highschool. The arc revolves around her romance problems.
Episode 7-8, Yukine Arc
This arc spans 2 episodes in length. The arc revolves around a recent number of gang fights in the neighbour hood. Yukine is stuck in between two gangs acting as a sort of mediator and a medic. We find out that the leader of one of the gangs is actually Yukine's brother. Yukine, Sunohara, Nagisa and Tomoya try and stop the gang fighting, one way or another.
Episode 9-15, Tomoya and Nagisa Arc
This arc spans 6 episodes. The arc is about the life of Nagisa and Tomoya. Now that Tomoya has graduated, he plans on marrying Nagisa. However, due to Nagisa's illness, she was unable to complete her last year, and still plans on redoing it. While Nagisa is still in school, Tomoya goes off and starts working as a regular citizen in society, and is no longer a student. After getting married, Nagisa has the urge to start a family, and becomes pregnant. However, after giving birth, Nagisa soon passed away due to her illness, along with the stress of childbirth.
Episode 16-18, Emo Tomoya Arc.
This arc spans 3 episodes. After the death of Nagisa during child birth, Tomoya becomes grief stricken. During his grief-stricken period, Nagisa's parents have been looking after their infant grandchild. In order to help alleviate Tomoya's sadness, Sanae decided to send Tomoya on a trip with his son Ushio.
Episode 19-21, Ushio Arc
This arc spans 3 episodes, and is about the life of Ushio with his now un-melancholic father, Tomoya. They spend their days regularly like any parent and son, with the child going to school, and the parent going to work. Ushio is all active and hyper until he suddenly collapses. Ushio has inherited the same condition that ailed Nagisa. Ushio's final wish being to out and travel, Tomoya grants this wish.
Episode 22, Final Episode, The everything makes sense now Arc.
Now, we find that the world in which the little girl and robot were in are actually a second world. There is another world in it, in which they both exist. We find out that the girl is actually Ushio, and the robot is Tomoya. Due to Tomoya's good deeds, a miracle happened, and Nagisa was revived, and Ushio was born.
Episode 23-24, Filler and Extra
self explanatory, and hasn't aired yet so i can't comment.
The story is overall good. Its not like your average romantic comedy. The story had many good parts, which were filled with both comedy and sadness. There were many times in which i shed a tear of manliness, and also a tear of laughter. However, once you start to analyze the plot, it becomes a little more forced. For example,
1. Why would they wait until Nagisa's water broke to try and get her to the hospital? Obviously with Nagisa's condition being the way it is, she would've been in the hospital WEEKS before her designated birth date. It just seems a little too forced once you start to analyze it.
2. Why in the world would tomoya take out Ushio when he's practically on his death bed? I mean, where i live, if someone did that, they would be put behind bars for a looonggg time. I mean sure, yeah, i would want to fufill my children's wishes too, but seriously, That was a fucking dumb move.
Overall, Story is a B+
Art
The art in this anime is magnificient. It can truly live up to the standards of the visual novel.
However, its not all perfect in the Clannad world. Even epic animes like Clannad have have some anime quality slips here and there. View the image below. Where in episode 3 of the first season of Clannad, there is clearly no banister, but however, in episode 17 of Clannad After Story, a banner magically appeared.
Overall, the Art is an A-
Sound
The Original Sound Track of Clannad spans 3 albums long, and is one of the best soundtracks i've heard yet. The music fits in well and complements the story. PM me if you want the OST. :3
definitely my favorite song in the entire OST.
Overall, the Sound is an A
Enjoyment
All in all, i enjoyed Clannad After Story. My favorite arcs would have to be the Sunohara, Misae, Emo Tomoya Arc, and the end of the Nagisa and Tomoya arc. These are overall my favorites because it has what i like to call the "BAWWW-Factor", in which it can make you shed tears of manliness. There were also parts of comedic relief, to make sure that you don't feel like slitting your wrists after Clannad because its so damn depressing. However, anything with Fuko in it is a complete waste of time. That is the only downside the anime has.
Overall, Enjoyment is an A+ (without Fuko), and with, A-
Overall
Overall, Clannad is a wonderful anime. Filled with both comedic and sad parts, complemented by a wonderful soundtrack and amazing quality. I would definitely recommend every to watch this.
