A Brief Introduction to Horse Racing

Introduction
Most new Perfect World players hear about the horse race by the time they reach lvl 30. Whether it is from a higher level friend, or from the system notices that are shouted out in the chat when people win, most people hear of the horse races.

When I first heard about the horse races, I asked my higher level friends and searched forums to find out information about it, and I didn’t manage to find out much. So I decided to make a guide about it for all of the people out there who wish to get involved in this wonderful event.

What kind of horse races are there?
There are 3 different horse races. There is the Daily Horse Race, the Monthly Horse Race and the Yearly Horse race.

What are the requirements to join a horse race?
The only requirement to join a Daily Horse Race is that you are lvl 40+. In order to join a Monthly or Yearly Horse Race, you must have a ticket which can be won by completing the different races.

Will I need a horse to participate in a horse race?
No, you do not need a horse to participate in a horse race. Ironically, you do not even need a mount to participate in a horse race. You can run the race on foot (no flying though). However, if you wish finish the race in a decent amount of time (under 10 minutes), you will need a mount.

About the Daily Horse Race
The Daily Horse Racing events are available to all people lvl 40 and above. It takes place at Snake Island, which is an island specially made for racing. There are 2 Daily Horse Races every day, one at 12:30pm and one at 9:30pm (Malaysian Time). You may only join one Daily Horse Race per day, so if you join the 12:30pm one you cannot join the 9:30pm one.

Getting to the Daily Horse Race
To join the daily horse race, you need to go to the Wolf Cub npc which can be found in the major cities (City of Feather, Ancient Dragon City, Dream Searching Port etc..). 10 minutes before the race starts, he will get a quest symbol above his head, indicating that you can now teleport to Snake Island to compete in the Daily Horse Race.

Once you have teleported to Snake Island, you will need to turn left and make your way towards the line of blue flags. This is where all the competing players will line up. If you have a mount, now is an ideal time to get on your mount. Now you will have to wait here until the race starts (12:30pm or 9:30pm).

Racing the Daily Horse Race
At 12:30pm or 9:30pm, the npc at the starting line and the small blue flags will get quest symbols above them. This indicates that you may now start racing. However, before you start racing around the track like a speedy gonzale, make sure that you talk to the npc/flags and recieve the quest from them first. If you don’t take the quest from them, running around the track will be fruitless.

Once you have the quest from them, follow the arrows to each checkpoint. When you reach a checkpoint (a large flag surrounded by smaller flags), ‘touch’ (not click) the large flag and continue along the track. Within a second or 3 (it can be laggy), you will get a notification that you have reached the checkpoint. You now need to reach the next checkpoint. Continue doing this along the track until you reach the starting line. As you approach the starting line, you will see a large blue flag. Treat it like a checkpoint flag and ‘touch’ it before you continue along the track for another lap. You need to make 3 laps of the course before you can recieve your prize. Once you have completed 3 laps, talk to the npc/flags to recieve a minor prize.

Minor Prize
All participants who finisht he race receive a prize of 5k exp, 1k SP and a Badge of Speed.

Major Prize
After you have recieved your minor prize, you will get a quest that asks you to get a Monthly Qualifying Ticket. If you are one of the first few people to finish the race, you can try to ‘mine’ one of the chests behind you on the mountain. Some of the chests require you to jump in order to reach them (this can be done on a mount). If you are lucky enough to mine one of the chests, your quest will be fulfilled and 3 things will happen. You will receive a Monthly Qualifying Ticket, get teleported back to ADC, and a system message will be sent out notifying all the people on your server how pro you are at racing.

About the Monthly Horse Race
The Monthly Horse Race is raced around the Perfect World map, going to checkpoints and the major cities. I myself have not yet participated in a monthly horse race, so everything in this section of the guide is based on what I have heard.

Registering for the Monthly Horse Race
In order to register for the Monthly Horse Race, you need to have a Monthly Qualifying ticket. Registration for the monthly horse race opens on the 23rd of every month, but there are only 400 spaces so be sure to register quickly.

Racing the Monthly Horse Race
Just like the daily horse race, you race around the map going to the different checkpoints and major cities.

Minor Prize
If you finish the race, you recieve 3 mirage stones.

Major Prize
If you are one of the top 5 people in the race, mining the chests from the cities, you will recieve a rare cloak called Broncho’s Mane (Dodge +150, Movement Speed +0.10m/s, Five Element Def +250, HP +80 with 3 sockets cloak) and a Yearly Racing Ticket.

About the Yearly Horse Race
Not much is known about the Yearly Horse race. One thing that is known is that you need a Yearly Qualifying Ticket to participate.
