Dual Computing
Anyone tried to use two computers to heal themselves with this class while fighting with another? Is that allowed? If you got two comps, would anyone recommend like just lvling this class first and then come back after you got all the godly buffs, and just buff yourself while you lvl etc etc.

Re: Dual Computing
as long as the two characters were created with two different accounts, you can certainly do that. they don't allow you to sign on multiple chars from the same account.

Re: Dual Computing
I just tested it, the patch program appears to block the same computer from running two instances of the application. To change this, you either need to hack their secure program, or use two different computers.
It seems to be blocking by hash rather then anything else, which makes sense because of the multi-layer application, process tracking would be difficult. But since multiple instances of the same client (even from another folder) retains the same hash, you can't double client on a single computer, period.
So if you want to take advantage of such, you need two PCs (I wouldn't even trust a laptop to this game). >.>
It's probably for the best anyways. >.x If they are blocking multi-client, then getting caught could get you banned. Even considering the details regarding "getting caught", if it is discouraged this strongly, then I wouldn't recommend it. Natural Parties are better and more reliable then a one-man-team anyways. >.x

Re: Dual Computing
Yeah. Also, dual clienting causes demand for priests to go down. Like it did in RO =/ Priests had a hard time finding parties because people could just have them follow them and heal/buff as needed.

Re: Dual Computing
This game has a demand for more then Priests, we have the healers, the damage dealers, and the tanks. A few people have healing skills as well, not just Priest (In fact, the only class that can not heal someone's hp or mp is our famed tank class, unless one of the other healing skills is self-targeted only), and everyone gets some variety of buffs. >.x
So parties are just good. <.<

Re: Dual Computing
I won't be duel clienting. My comp can't handle two instances of pw. I'll just probably use two accounts, one for my comp and my laptop.

Re: Dual Computing
O.O Is it not a good idea to play this game on a laptop, and why not? D:
I have a laptop. My laptop is the only computer I can use. The dell desktop in the kitchen is crap (duh, because its Dell) my parents would never let me touch the mac in the kitchen, and the other old Windows ME comp over on my desk doesnt have an internet connection x_x

Re: Dual Computing
Laptops have one extreme issue, they do not handle graphical-intensive applications very well. PWO is graphically intensive.

Re: Dual Computing

Thats just my opinion from my personal experience.
My dell = died, spent $100 to fix it = still broke
My neighbors dell = died, had to replace it
My friends dell= barely functioning, her sister who went to college to specialize in computer..mechanics or whatever you'd call it, installed more memory, and the thing still barely functions.
I guess its just bad luck, but I personally dislike dells. Then again, I love my HP, and my friend tells me HP is crap, so I guess its just who you ask, and depends on the computer? idk. Sorry, I didn't mean to make it sound like it was an absolute fact that dells stink or something.

Re: Dual Computing
If you run Vista, use the performance checker in systems, which will give you a rating for your computer between 0 and 6. If your computer's graphical minimum is 3 or less, you should give careful consideration to using a laptop (especially since it has Vista >.x). 3-4 MIGHT run with minimum settings. 4-5 should run with basic settings. Higher then 5 and you won't have any problems.

Re: Dual Computing

My laptop is less than a year old though, and it doesnt have too much crap on it. I generally try to get rid of stuff I dont use, and I defragment it every now and then. Hopefully it'll work out x_x
